My Cherry Tree | 24x18"
One spring, I cut down my cherry tree. For years, it was a thing of incredible beauty in my garden. My children played in the falling petals when they were babies. I would look out my window and see its pink blossoms glow in the moonlight. It was pure poetry in bloom.
As the garden aged, the cherry tree struggled as it competed with larger and larger trees for water and light. Over the years, it faded and most of it died. Eventually, we decided the mostly-dead cherry tree would need to go.
Before they cut it down, I trimmed branches from the part of the tree that was still alive and forced them into bloom in a vase in my living room. This is the last of my cherry tree and my tribute to the beauty it gave us for so many years.
